Art tutoring for pupils 6 years to 80 years +

What does Christine understand and aspire ART to be?

Art is an integral part of all human beings’ life and survival; it entails creative thought patterns - which is essential in any sphere of life - e.g. A problem is either perceived or created and with creative thought solved.

Art is always the extension of the physical image and the spiritual aspect it represents. In fine art it is line, rhythm, colour, shade, subject etc. In music it is rhythm, pitch, tempo, tune, etc.

In music one has to be able to hear and listen, with mind and spirit. In fine arts one has to be able to look and see, with mind and spirit. It is something that comes naturally to every person, but stays in essence, as a subconscious reality, so that when it is explored and discovered in the conscious realm, it could truly be appreciated, savoured and enjoyed.

To really see, hear and taste, to really feel, enjoy and experience.

The experience, if you truly saw a flower in your garden, could be just as wonderful to you, as for another person going to the world flower show.

Art as used in everybody’s daily life:

Personal appearance

In applying makeup, shaving, having a beard, a haircut, clothes to wear, outfits and colours used in outfits. What “picture” do I wish to make of myself, to present to the world, to express my being, my essence, in the image that I project?

Interior design

What “picture” image to display to visitors and friends? Within my financial abilities, displaying how I handle the problem of finances and personal creative solutions. Creating an image true to my essence as a person. Attracting my kind of person.

Not being true to yourself in any creative product, of your own creation, connected to your persona, will lead to attracting people that would act in a way that is not in harmony with your essence.

Wall decorations. What pictures do I wish to see on my walls? What do they say to me? How will I feel looking at them every day? What influence do they have on me? What atmosphere do they create with their presence?

A painting on your wall that has a signature indicating your financial abundance, and fits your decor and colouring in the room, and is covering an empty space on your wall, fitting perfectly, is in actual fact, a wall decoration. (Background music, white sound). Yet saying nothing and expressing nothing in harmony to your essence, or it even could have a negative effect on your existence.

Fine art, ballet, tribal dances, music, theatre etc. all have a profound influence on a person, as any accompanying human being has on another. The works of prehistoric man still influence us today, even if we do not quite know the reason or meaning of the work.

What Christine will be teaching at Christi 4 Art, and how is she going to implement it?

v Learn to look. Learn to appreciate and experience art, how to make conscious choices when acquiring art. By looking with your mind and soul and being true to your self, in actual fact, it is the choice of a friend that will be with you for quite some time.

v Using the medium of fine arts as base, finding out who you are becomes a personal road of discovery. Take note, it is within everyone’s reach to create art. (Just look at yourself in the mirror or look at your bedroom, the placing of articles and what you choose to be displayed, and how).

v All pupils will be assisted individually to develop into the best artist they can be, within their own personal idiom and ability.

v Art history through the ages. We start in the first term with prehistoric art throughout the world, from Mammoths in Germany to South African Elephants and back. (Eg. a horse made of mammoth ivory, found at Vogelherd in Germany, was carved some 30,000 years ago, and is one of the oldest sculptures in the world).

v Creating drawings with materials of the first known “Artists”, charcoal, then later (Da Vinci’s era) in silverpoint, up to materials used to day.

v Colour theories and combinations in full colour paintings.

v Decorating your, or your child or grandchild’s own “brand” t-shirt.

v Extra curricular art training for pupils with art as school subject, supplementary to their basic training at school.

v Prepare students up to grade 7 to be ready to do art at High school level.

POINTS TO PONDER WHEN JUDGING YOUR OWN ARTWORK AND ABILITY

The possibility for your work not to be appreciated by your target audience is fairly big, but in a wider group of people, there may be some that truly appreciate it.

Remember, some artists were only really appreciated by people born a few generations after their own lifetime.

You are not always the best critic to judge your work, what you consider as mediocre, could be very special to someone else.
